Bergen Summer Research School 2016
Water, Climate and Society

June 13-24, 2016 at the University of Bergen

Every summer, the Bergen Summer Research School<https://www.uib.no/en/rs/bsrs> (BSRS) gathers one hundred doctoral students and young researchers of all disciplines from all around the world to tackle some of the greatest challenges of our time — this year: water.

The result is a unique transdisciplinary environment where participants present, engage, discuss, progress their thinking and improve on their work. Many of the events are open to the public.
Professor Terje Tvedt is this year’s scientific leader: He is responsible for binding the courses together with a series of plenary sessions and keynotes by top international water experts. Professor Tvedt has published a number of influential books and articles on water-society issues, most recently a book titled Water and Society<http://tvedt.b.uib.no/2015/11/23/1064/>.

Professor Tvedt is internationally known for three award-winning TV-documentaries<http://watervideo.b.uib.no/> on water and for the nine-volume series A History of Water<https://waterhistory.b.uib.no/> that he edited with contributions from over two hundred researchers from most disciplines — and from about one hundred countries.

Bergen Summer Research School was established in 2008 as a joint initiative between the University of Bergen, Chr. Michelsen Institute, Bergen University College, the Norwegian School of Business and Administration, and Uni Research.

Registration deadline: March 1, 2016.
