Doctoral Students Film Club

Doctoral Students Film Club

The Culture Commission of the Jagiellonian University’s PhD Student Association invites you to the next edition of the Doctoral Students Film Club, which will be held on Tuesday June 20th at 6:15 PM in the White Room of the Cinema Under the Rams. This time, we will watch Asteroid City (USA, 2023, dir. Wes Anderson; in English with Polish subtitles). The film's description comes from the distributor.

The screenplay for Asteroid City was written by Anderson on the basis of a story co-written with Roman Coppola.

The film’s plot is set in a fictional American desert town around 1955 to which students and parents from across the country flock to take part in a convention. However, the convention is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.

In Asteroid City, we will see many stars:  Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Ed Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan, Grace Edwards, Aristou Meehan, Sophie Lillis, Ethan Lee, Jeff Goldblum, and Rita Wilson.

This film is directed and produced by Wes Anderson (Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom).

Admission is free for doctoral students at the Jagiellonian University, although the number of participants is limited. We ask all who are interested in attending the event to send an email to filip.mazurczak@doctoral.uj.edu.pl by Monday June 19th. The introduction to the film will begin at 6:15 PM sharp. Please arrive on time.
